Time Flies // Recently enjoyed things

Life! Ah! Where did you go!?

I can't believe it's already February, 2012. What the heck? I don't know where all the time went. It is just flying by me. I've been sick for the past few days and I've literally stayed at home the entire time (besides a trip to the store once). I've been itching to go back to work! And I feel like a terrible person for not having done anything productive. But I guess it's my body, and the universe's, way of saying HEYYYY. LIFE IS SHORT. SLOW THE HECK DOWN. I'm really bad at getting those messages usually. :/

People always told me "time goes by so much quicker as soon as you graduate from high school", and you really don't know how true this is until you're living it. I feel like so many things have just been a big blur... This isn't good. I want to be able to remember everything, and enjoy all the little things life has to offer.

Here are some simple things that make me happy lately :)

Legwarmers

Headwraps

Hot Tea

TV dates/ long phone calls with Andrew

Long talks with my mama

In depth talks about culture

Handmade winter gear made in Nepal

Fun accessories

French fries with friends

Late night chats with my best friend

Tattoos

Just to name a few :)

What are some things that made you happy today? Sometimes the littlest things make the biggest difference. Let's all try and remember to take deep breaths once in a while, and enjoy life a little more.

xo

PS-- It's Darwin's birthday today, February 12th! What a guy ;)

My favorite brand

So as I've mentioned, I am gluten intolerant, almost always vegetarian, and am 90% vegan (mostly because eggs and dairy make me sick anyway)! It hasn't always been easy-peasey to eliminate all these gluten, dairy, meat filled products- lemme tell you. When I first started being g-free, I had no idea what gluten even was or what it was in! Luckily my mom is also g-free, so she knew a thing or two about it. Finally, after a year or so of eliminating it from my diet, I became a compulsive label reader, and can spot ingredients I can't eat in a heartbeat.

Now, being a member of the Scott family, it's kind of a requirement to love cereal. For Christmas each year we each [grandkids aka my sisters, cousins, and me] get a box of cereal as a gift then eat it all weekend with our family. We grew up mowing down on all cereals, all the time, anytime. Then after becoming g-free, I felt like I couldn't eat any of the good cereals that everyone else was eating, and it sucked. :(

While grocery shopping with my madre one day, we came upon this green box of cereal with a jungle animal on it... after a few seconds of figuring out what it is, we saw it was a cereal made by the brand Envirokidz. I immediately fell in love. There are five different kinds of Envirokidz cereals:

Gorilla Munch (similar to Cap'n Crunch)

Koala Crisp (similar to Cocoa Crispies)

Leapin' Lemurs (like Reese's Puffs... Which is Andrew's, My best friend's, and my favorite!! :) )

Amazon Frosted Flakes (similar to Kelloggs Frosted Flakes)

Peanut Butter Panda Puffs (also a favorite of ours!)

So now that you know how amazing the cereals are, here's the best part: 1% of the sales goes to wildlife protection and habitat conservation! On each box there is a type of animal that is endangered or struggling, and it gives information on that animal!

Not only dooes Envirokidz sell cereal, it sells cereal bars as well! Which is are just as tasty. :)

Oh and each product they make has always been gluten free- it says it on each package. ;)

Even if you're not gluten free, you should try some of these products. Andrew loves them!

Music

So I'm laying here in bed... Wishing I could sleep. I'm so tired; but I think I'm beyond tired and now I'm just in a daze...

What's your favorite thing to do when you're in these states of mind?

Mine is listening to calming music... I like almost all types of music, but I must say Trevor Hall and Matisyahu will always be my "go-to" guys in any given situation. I could be in the most depressed, upset, negative mood ever- then I play some Matisyahu or Trevor and all of my problems just disappear. It is a wonderful thing.

I have been lucky enough to see both of these guys in concert too, so that makes me love them even more! Hearing them and seeing brings me to an entirely different life, state of mind... it's almost like a whole other consciousness. It makes me think, yet clear my mind at the same time. I really can't describe it in words, but I'm sure most of you have some type of music or artist that does this to you as well. ;)

Oh and I'd like to give my SMBFF, Kayla the credit for having me start listening to M and T in the first place!! I love her and them as well! <3

In case you haven't heard any of their music, here are a few songs to give a listen to. They're just my favorites. :)

Proof of Destruction -- Trevor Hall

Youth -- Matisyahu

Unity -- Trevor Hall feat. Matisyahu
